In the inital stages of Dark & Light coming online for players, there were some rocky patches that had to be overcome in the first few days. The developers noticed right away that they had already gained a loyal fanbase that was willing to stick with them through this period of time and so they came up with a way to reward them.
In a statement made about the quest, CEO of Farlan Entertainment Frederick Caille said “The thousands of players who registered for our Settlers of Ganareth pre-opening phase stood by our game through some challenging times. These free memberships, given to the winners of the “Dragon of the Apocalypse” quest, are one way for us to thank people who involved themselves in Dark and Light, With other favors and perks planned for the future, we encourage our loyal fans to continue experiencing the fun and adventure that is Dark and Light.”
The Dragon of Apocolypse quest was a challenging one. Settlers received clues once a week from an oracle and the settlers had to decipher these clues in order to move forward. Seventeen players eventually figured out the clues and were able to find eggs hidden by an evil dragoon who was bent on creating a new race of dragon creatures. The birth of these creatures would've caused serious problems throughout the world.
With the quest solved, these players are now eligable to cash in lifetime memberships to Dark & Light.
